Hope Lutheran Church’s outreach ministries connect faith with service in Farmington Hills and the surrounding community. Through hands-on volunteer opportunities, donations, ministry partnerships, and local community resources, we seek to serve our neighbors with compassion, dignity, and hope.

OUTREACH TEAM

Join Us in Serving Our Neighbors

Hope’s Outreach Team builds meaningful relationships within our community and creates opportunities for members to live out a life of service. Serving others is not simply something we do. It is an essential expression of what it means to follow Jesus and reflect Hope’s long and faithful commitment to Christian service.

We invite you to participate in both ongoing and one-time outreach efforts through donations, hands-on service, and shared partnership.

OUTREACH MINISTRIES

Ways We Serve Together

Hope’s outreach ministries offer practical ways to care for neighbors through food, supplies, generosity, and shared service.

Blessing Box

Hope’s Blessing Box, located outside on church property, is a small free pantry offering non-perishable food, hygiene items, and basic household supplies to neighbors in need.

We collect paper goods such as toilet paper, paper towels, and facial tissue; cleaning supplies including disinfecting wipes, dish soap, and laundry detergent; canned goods such as meats, vegetables, fruits, and soups; dry goods including cereal, macaroni and cheese, and ramen; snacks such as protein bars, crackers, and granola bars; and personal hygiene items like body soap, shampoo, and toothpaste.

Bags of Hope

Bags of Hope are care packages prepared by our congregation and shared with unhoused neighbors. Each drawstring bag includes a resource list, personal care items, water, and a granola bar.

Members periodically contribute supplies and come together to assemble bags for distribution as a small but meaningful act of compassion and presence.

Alternative Christmas Fair

Hope’s Alternative Christmas Fair, held each year on the second Saturday of November, provides a thoughtful alternative to traditional holiday shopping.

Every vendor represents a charitable organization, and 100% of the proceeds from each purchase benefit that charity. It’s an opportunity to give meaningful gifts while directly supporting those in need.

WIDER CHURCH PARTNERSHIP

Southeast Michigan Synod Task Forces

Through the Southeastern Michigan Synod, we engage in shared ministries, including focused work in diversity, immigration, and refugee support.

Diversity Task Force on Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression

This synod initiative focuses on matters of sexual orientation and gender expression within the church. Composed of lay and rostered leaders from diverse backgrounds, it offers education and resources to support congregations and individuals as they engage questions of sexuality and gender.

Immigration Task Force

The Immigration Task Force is a synod-supported group of lay people, clergy, and representatives from allied organizations who journey alongside refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants through education, advocacy, and action.

The task force meets on the third Wednesday of each month at noon via Zoom. Contact Hope member Jessica Beamer, chair of the Immigration Task Force, at djbeamer@sbcglobal.net to request additional information or join the email list.
